Will Having A Reason To Meditate Help Anything?

  • March 24, 2012
  • Dr. Kevin Rod
The essence of meditation is pure concentration. We use meditation for many treatment goals, but having a reason to do meditation is different from doing meditation to achieve something. If our attention is focused on getting into a goal then we cannot concentrate enough in order to do a real meditation, as such, the goal becomes an obstacle. We should not meditate to achieve anything other than real inner calmness through full concentration on the moment. Our reason for meditation is an initiative to meditate, but the focus on goal, is not productive. If we manage to do a real meditation, then the goals would be achieved if they are reasonable, without any need to focus on them.
